The District Award of Merit is a council award presented annually by the district. One award is available for every 25 registered units. The district need not present all awards it is entitled. The nominee must be a registered Scouter; must have contributed noteworthy service to youth; that service may consist of one single plan that contributed to a large number of youth, or an extended time of service to a small group; must contribute some type of service to youth outside of Scouting; the service should be beyond the normal expectation for the Scouter’s registered position; attitude and cooperation with the district and council is considered. A Scouter may not receive more than one District Award of Merit. Posthumous awards shall not be considered.
