North Star District

The North Star District is part of the Occoneechee Council, serving Scouts in Wake, Franklin and Warren counties of North Carolina.  We are home to over 80 Scouting units serving over 1,600 youth.

Our units are made up of Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, and Explorer Posts that fit the needs of all. We are very proud of our youth and strive to continue to build and shape tomorrow’s leaders!

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is … to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Words to Live By ...

We never fail when we try to do our duty, we always fail when we neglect to do it.

Powder Horn 2024 @ Camp Durant

Powder Horn is designed to challenge you by providing you with three full days of high-adventure activities to learn (or re-learn) with skilled experts and exposure to the planning, equipment and practice necessary to deliver a high quality outdoor adventure program in your unit, district or council.

Some of the topics that are typically offered at Powder Horn may include:

Powder Horn 2024 will not be a typical Scouting training course. You will spend time learning, by DOING, along with expert consultants in each area being presented. Each participant will have the opportunity to participate in 14 to 20 challenging activities and must participate in at least 10 in order to graduate.

Each of the three course days will be filled to the brim with high-adventure activities, learning and experience that you will enjoy, but will also be attainable. You will work alongside other members of your small crew to complete each challenge.

At the end of the course, you will be given a resource guide to help you take the adventure back to your unit, district or council to invigorate your own youth-led Scouting program.
